My wife and I booked this full-day hike as part of our honeymoon. We were joined by a few other travellers in a small group for the hike. We highly recommend it! What made this day special was our guide, Angelo Georgalli. He is friendly, energetic, and caring. He knows so much about the nature and history of the lands. You could see his eyes sparkle when we spotted a few rare bird species. Also, he knew all the park rangers and staff and is a big part of the nature community there. Lastly, he frequently checked in with us to make sure we were moving at a good comfortable pace, while keeping us all on time. I had two different guides: Aidan in the morning and Pete in the afternoon. The 4WD experience was amazing as well. We got to travel on narrow and steep roads, cross rivers, visit many film locations, and enjoy great sightseeing in general. We did the Queenstown Lord of the Rings half day tour with Kenny - he was fantastic - very knowledgeable, down to earth and a great sense of humour. Highlights were the multiple crossings of the Arrow River towards Macetown, and navigating Skippers Road to catch the striking afternoon light in the canyon. I did the Scenic LOTR tour this morning, and I lucked out as it was just me and the tour guide, Dan. We had a blast. Everything Nomad provided was stellar, and more than I expected. Dan was super knowledgeable, informed and prepared. We covered several important scenes from the movies and had some really interesting behind-the-scenes stories as well. The off-roading was particularly fun and a great touch for the tour. I booked the Skipper's Canyon 4WD Drive tour on 6 May at 8.15am via Agoda. However, as I was the only passenger on the tour that morning, Nomad Safaris proposed that I switch over to the Half-Day Lord of The Rings tour at Gleonarchy. At first, I was a tad disappointed as I was looking for adventure and adrenaline over the narrow Skipper's Canyon. Our exceptional guide, Hayden made the difference for this tour, even though I wasn't crazy about LOTR. It was quite an experience sitting in a 4WD vehicle for the first time. The scenic drive from Queenstown to Glenoarchy gave us sweeping views across the Remarkables and Walter Peak. Our first stop was fun, where we proned down near a cliff to recreate the scene of Froddo, Samwise and Gollum at 12 mile creek. We drove further into Paradise and stopped where X-men: Wolverine was shot. Our last stop was by a creek where one of the battles in LOTR was fought.
