Take a 2 hour scenic Jet Boat ride along the Dart River, surrounded by the towering mountains and beautiful wilderness of Mt Aspiring National Park.

Experience informative and entertaining commentary on the area and its rich history and learn about the search for highly prized Pounamu (Greenstone) by the early Maori tribes. Explore a region filled with spectacular vistas used as the backdrop for various films including the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Take a True Off-Road Adventure


Take a true off-road adventure in a Safari 4WD vehicle. Explore the breathtaking, diverse scenery on offer in Queenstown, travel through Historic Arrowtown and try your hand at panning for gold in the river. Experience the thrill of 4WD river crossings through the Arrow River.

Travel along the Skippers Canyon road to Lighthouse Rock.

Visit striking scenery used in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, including the Misty Mountains, the Pillars of the Kings and the Ford of Bruinen.

Your Full Day Adventure Activity:


  • 8:15am: Meet at The Station Building (Duke Street) Dart River Jet Safaris, with scenic transfer to Glenorchy.
  • 8:30am: Scenic Transfer to Glenorchy, where you will embark on the Wilderness Jet Boat Experience.
  • 12:30pm: Return to Queenstown, enjoy a short Lunch Break – $20 voucher included with this tour.
  • 1:20pm: Check in at 37 Shotover Street (Info & Snow/Info & Track Shop) for your Nomad Safaris 4WD check in.
  • 1:30pm: Depart on the Nomad Safaris 4WD Queenstown/Wakatipu Basin Tour - light afternoon refreshments provided.
  • 5:30pm: Return to 37 Shotover Street - some central Queenstown hotel drop-offs available upon request.


What should I wear/do I need to bring anything? Comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor adventure and comfortable walking shoes. Dart River Jet provide life jackets but you may get splashed! It is advised that you wear sunscreen and definitely bring your camera as there are plenty of stunning photo opportunities!

Can my child come on this tour? Children are more than welcome on this tour, as long as they meet the minimum height requirement of 1 metre. Infants (0-3 years) travel for free and children (4-14 years) travel at a discounted price.

Where can we get lunch? There is time after the jet boat to buy your lunch in Glenorchy.

This could mean we are unable to cross rivers or drive certain roads or drive the full length of roads like Skippers Canyon. When booking, please understand that these adjustments may be required. Risks you may be exposed to during your tour include, but are not limited to:

  • Motor vehicle accident including collision with other vehicles, stationary objects, or the land, rollovers, or vehicle fires.
  • Your own failure to heed safety warnings, both verbal and written.
  • Actions of other road users or members of the public which could cause harm.
  • Risk of falling from alighting the motor vehicle.
  • Risk of falling or injury due to uneven, loose, or slippery terrain.
  • Risk of drowning.
  • Risk of injury or death due to natural events such as Earthquakes, Landslide, Flash Flooding, Treefall, Wildfire, Lightning, Blizzards, Volcanic Eruption, Tsunami, Cyclones, and any ongoing consequences of these events.

Weather Cancellation Policy

Weather cancellation policy Nomad Adventures Limited (t/a Nomad Safaris, Info & Track, Info & Snow)

As part of this commitment, we reserve the right to delay or cancel any tours or activities if weather conditions are not suitable. This decision will be made by the Operations Manager or a delegated representative. Guides and Drivers are also authorized to modify their routes, or shorten a tour if weather conditions unexpectedly change.

Reasons for this could include, but are not limited to:

  • Excessive rain causing risk of flooding
  • Extreme high winds
  • Snowfall closing roads
  • Excessive ice on roading network
  • Risk of lightning strike during tours
  • Weather-related State of Emergency declared by authorities
  • Any other extreme environmental or weather event, such as Earthquake, Landslide, Wildfire, Tsunami, Cyclone, Volcanic Eruption
