The half-day wine tour begins from your central Queenstown accommodation or the town centre and brings you to the historic village of Arrowtown to begin your adventure.

At the trailhead, you will become acquainted with your e-bike, the trails and safety considerations. Your guide will ensure it is sized and adjusted specifically for you and ensure you have all you will need for the afternoon. Our E-bikes are outfitted with panniers to carry your gear. We provide water, snacks, and a rain cape and there is plenty of room for shopping or wine you might indulge in along the way. After a short introduction to your ebike and its controls and a little practice, you will be on your way!

No need for a map on this Queenstown Wine tour, as your local guide, will be with you for the duration. Leaving Arrowtown on a beautifully scenic and well-maintained track, you will head along the Arrow River towards the Gibbston Valley. The gentle trail zigzags across the Arrow river featuring three bridges and two impressive suspension bridges, through quiet country lanes, along grazing farmstock, and through spectacular mountain scenery.

The track winds its way through the stunning scenery and passes through the Kawarau Bungy Centre on the way. Stop here and enjoy the architecture of the building, the historic bridge, the washrooms and lovely cafe while you watch the brave jumpers.

Leaving the Kawarau Bridge, the trail again winds along the shockingly blue Kawarau river, used as the river Anduin in the Lord of the Rings films, with beautiful cliffs on one side, and the luscious vineyards of the Gibbston Valley on the other. The world-famous region is known for its pinot wines and craft beers. Take the time to stop and enjoy of course!

The ride will finish at Kinross Cellar Door in the heart of the Gibbston Valley wine region. Relax and enjoy your reward. Kinross Cellar Door exclusively represents Coal Pit, Domaine Thompson, Valli, Wild Irishman and Hawkshead and their own recently released label. These are 6 boutique wineries are world-famous and only available here.  Your tasting flight is included in the tour. Kinross also offers an impressive array of food to pair with your wines if you choose. After your group has had their fill, relax in our vehicle for your transfer back to Queenstown.

Depending on the speed and ability of the group, the route may be modified.
Is this tour suitable for children? Based on international safety standards regarding E-bikes, we recommend this tour to people aged 14 years and up. How long am I cycling for? This half-day Queenstown wine tour offers varied activities. Expect to be on the bicycle for approximately 1.5 up to two hours. Depending on the speed and confidence of the riders, the route can be modified. Do I have to cycle the whole time? If you find you tire of cycling or do not wish to cycle the entire time, we do have the flexibility to modify the tour. The trail has many convenient exit points at which you can park up your ebike. Your steady guide will load it up for you and drive you to the next point. How fit do I need to be? This guided tour offers the flexibility of tailoring the speed to the confidence of the group. A base level of fitness is helpful, however, the luxury of the E-bike allows for as much or as little effort as you prefer.  Do I need experience riding a bicycle? While the track is beautifully maintained and well-formed, some cycling experience is recommended.  What should I bring? We will provide you with a bottle of water and a snack. There are opportunities along the way to purchase additional food and beverages if you prefer. Wear clothing appropriate to the weather and that is easy to move in. Closed-toe athletic shoes are best. It is law in New Zealand to cycle with a helmet, but do not fret as we will provide that. Bring your camera, sunscreen, and a sense of adventure!  As this is a winery tour, is it safe to sip and cycle? Reward your efforts with a tasting flight at Kinross Cellar Door after the cycling experience. As you indulge for the remainder of the afternoon, your guide will be packing up the bicycles and equipment. When you and your group have finished, enjoy the luxury of having your designated driver return you to Queenstown. How many wines will I taste? Kinross Cellar Door exclusively represents 6 world-renowned Gibbston Valley wineries: Coal Pit, Domaine Thompson, Vallie, Wild Irishman, Hawkshead and Kinross itself. Will I get very dirty? Our purpose-built bikes are unique in that they are fitted with mudguards. This is a  wine tour that will keep you clean and fresh and return you to town ready for the evening.
